BI ARTS
What is BI ARTS?
BI ARTS is a unique programme based on a bilateral cultural agreement between the Israeli and British governments. It promotes and enables dialogue between Israeli and British artists both in Israel and the UK. BI ARTS provides artists with opportunities for training and collaboration through professional development programmes and the exchange of experience and expertise in all aspects of the arts.
BI ARTS reaches all sectors of the arts and creates opportunities for various artists in a wide range of artistic fields. We are always looking out for new projects and partnerships, involving established or emerging arts institutions or artists. Our aim is to create a genuine exchange of knowledge and ideas between the UK and Israel, with strong long-term prospects for collaboration and skills development in both countries. A rolling programme of applications throughout the year encourages creativity and flexibility (3 deadlines a year).
We reach many thousands of people through our projects engaging hundreds of arts students, influential professional artists and academics, policy-makers and arts lovers every year. We are closely connected to the arts scene and are very dynamic – we are always updated about trends in the art world through our close relationships with artists.
BI ARTS is funded by the British Council, the Government of Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Culture and Sport.

Who is eligible to apply?
Professional artists/emerging artists who live and work in either Israel or the UK from all sectors of the arts, developing projects that involve artists from both countries, which will take place either in the UK or in Israel or both.

- Projects that present new work to the other country or new point of view on a work of art
- Include a strong bilateral element
- Includes a strong element of diversity and multi-cultural activity
What does the scheme cover?
The key element of the scheme is to support artistic exchanges/ professional workshops and collaboration between artists from the UK and Israel and can cover costs such as flights, accommodation, subsistence and workshop fees (but not necessarily all the costs)
What does the scheme not cover?
BI ARTS cannot provide scholarships for courses of individual study.
How do I apply?
BI ARTS is constantly looking for new projects which will help Israeli and UK artists develop their work and create long-term partnerships.

The BI ARTS committee meets three times a year to consider applications.
The next deadline is 15th February 2012- we will consider applications for projects that will take place in September 2011 onwards.
Please note, the British Council will not take on administrative responsibility for a project.
